It was another lively Tuesday at Bucktown Social inside the DoubleTree by Hilton, and this week Business Travelers came in absolutely locked and loaded. Seven teams battled through four rounds of trivia covering everything from TV spin-offs and extinct species to general knowledge and famous families — and by the time the dust settled, there was no question who owned the night.
Four teams kicked off the evening with 20 questions about TV shows spun off from other shows. Room accuracy landed at 44.4%, making this the toughest round of the night. DaKotahRed edged out a narrow win with 3,932 points over Business Travelers at 3,818 — a gap of just 114 points. Scooter trailed in third (2,103) and Giirrrrrrlllllll rounded things out at 1,100.
The room got stumped hard on Private Practice's setting (0% — it was Los Angeles), which Ewing led "Knots Landing" (0% — Gary Ewing), and Xena's signature throwing weapon (0% — the Chakram). On the flip side, everyone nailed Baby Yoda's real name (Grogu — 100%) and the Cleveland Show's fictional city (Stoolbend — 100%).
The field grew to six teams as Other Business Travel and Big Blue joined the fray. This round explored things that have gone extinct or disappeared — from prehistoric creatures to canceled TV shows — and the room showed up with a strong 61.2% accuracy, the highest of the night.
Business Travelers seized control with 13,700 points, propelled by 70% accuracy. Scooter was right behind at 11,000 after nailing a +7,000 wager on Q10, but then gave it all back with a brutal -11,000 wager miss on the final question about Kodachrome. Other Business Travel also lost big on wagers (-6,000 on Q10 and -7,000 on Q20), finishing with zero points despite a respectable 65% accuracy — proof that in Gleeful Events trivia, knowing the answers is only half the battle.
The toughest question: which social media platform launched in 2003 and once rivaled MySpace? Not a single team got it (0%) — the answer was Bebo. Meanwhile, everyone correctly identified "Stacked" as the canceled Pamela Anderson sitcom and "In Living Color" as the sketch show that launched Jim Carrey (both 100%).
The full house of seven teams was in play as YO! joined for a potpourri-style round. Room accuracy settled at 52.1%. DaKotahRed bounced back from a tough R2 to dominate with 16,322 points, while Business Travelers stayed consistent at 11,745.
This round was a wager graveyard. Scooter went all-in and lost (-7,371 on Q10, -6,893 on Q15), finishing with zero points despite 60% accuracy. YO! suffered the same fate — solid knowledge (50%) but bad wager luck left them at zero. DaKotahRed was the only team to win a big wager this round, hitting +5,441 on the final question about Joni Mitchell's "Blue" album.
Three questions stumped the entire room at 0%: the lowest layer of Earth's atmosphere (Troposphere), the fictional continent in "The Witcher" (simply called The Continent), and the animal with the largest brain-to-body ratio (the Tree Shrew).
This was the round that decided everything. With point values built into each question (3,000/4,000/5,000), the scoring got massive — and Business Travelers went supernova. They scored an astounding 83,100 points on 85% accuracy, including a jaw-dropping +24,000 wager win on Q15 (about composer Johann Sebastian Bach being C.P.E. Bach's father).
Big Blue had their best round of the night (41,500 points, 55%), and YO! — who had scored zero the round before — exploded for 35,000 points to vault from unranked all the way into third place overall. Meanwhile, DaKotahRed, who had been in contention all night, suffered a catastrophic -31,500 wager miss on the final question (Prince George and Princess Charlotte) and finished R4 with zero points.
The room struggled most with Agrippina as Caligula's sister and Nero's mother (20%) and the Roy family from "Succession" (20%). But everyone knew Carmela Soprano (100%), Ross and Monica's parents Jack and Judy Geller (100%), and the "Step Brothers" duo of Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly (100%).
| Rank | Team | Points | Accuracy |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Business Travelers | 112,363 | 68% |
| 2 | Big Blue | 47,440 | 26% |
| 3 | YO! | 35,000 | 28% |
| 4 | DaKotahRed | 22,254 | 36% |
| 5 | Scooter | 13,103 | 46% |
| 6 | Giirrrrrrlllllll | 9,924 | 24% |
| 7 | Other Business Travel | 0 | 20% |
