Venue: Sheridan's Walton Tap, Dixon, IL | Date: Monday, May 18, 2026 | Teams: 8 | Questions: 80
Eight players squared off in Dixon for the May edition of monthly trivia at Sheridan's Walton Tap, and the wagers told the whole story. The first half played relatively straight — two wager questions per round, manageable swings. Then Rounds 3 and 4 each packed four wager questions apiece, and the leaderboard went completely sideways. By the time the dust settled, Bridget had ridden a massive Round 4 performance to the top, finishing with 148,385 points and the night's only six-figure single-round score.
The opener took players through casinos, card games, and Las Vegas lore. Denise came out strong, topping the round with 10,775 points and the night's best R1 accuracy at 80%. FuncleBob was close behind with 15 correct and 8,321 points. On the other end, The Bartender had a brutal start — only 3 of 20 correct (15% accuracy) and 0 points after wager losses wiped the slate clean.
The question that stumped everyone: "Which playing card is commonly known as the 'suicide king'?" Every single player missed it. Most guessed King of Spades, but the answer is the King of Hearts, who appears to be driving a sword through his own head. Meanwhile, "Rain Man" as the 1988 card-counting film was the only question all 8 players nailed.
| Place | Team | Points | Accuracy |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Denise | 10,775 | 80% |
| 2 | FuncleBob | 8,321 | 75% |
| 3 | Asshole Annie | 6,368 | 55% |
| 4 | Bridget | 4,957 | 60% |
| 5 | Dancing Machine | 4,167 | 50% |
| 6 | Joanie | 2,852 | 60% |
| 7 | Gertrude | 1,774 | 60% |
| 8 | The Bartender | 0 | 15% |
A theme of teeth, bites, and venom brought the overall accuracy down to exactly 50%. Asshole Annie took the round with 18,000 points, and Dancing Machine had a solid showing at 15,000. Two more questions hit 0% accuracy: the dental term "impacted" for a tooth that fails to emerge through the gum line, and the inland taipan as the world's most venomous snake. Both were complete shutouts — not a single correct answer across all 8 players.
Lestat being played by Tom Cruise in "Interview with the Vampire" also tripped up nearly everyone (only 1 of 8 correct), and the first electric toothbrush being named the Broxodent was almost as brutal at 14%.

This is where the night got wild. Four wager questions turned the leaderboard upside down. Joanie went from 6th place to 1st with a commanding 39,317 points — a monster swing powered by smart wagering. Denise, who had been leading the cumulative standings through two rounds, crashed to 8th in this round with just 3,011 points despite getting 8 correct. Wagers giveth, and wagers taketh away.
The hardest questions were a three-way tie at 13% (1 of 8 correct): William Shatner playing Denny Crane on "Boston Legal," volleyball being invented as an alternative to basketball, and Gary Ewing being the Ewing from "Knots Landing." On the flip side, every single player knew that Skipper was Barbie's first spin-off doll — the night's only 100% wager question.
| Place | Team | Points | Accuracy |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Joanie | 39,317 | 60% |

| 6 | The Bartender | 8,339 | 35% |
| 7 | Gertrude | 4,506 | 40% |
| 8 | Denise | 3,011 | 40% |
The finale delivered the night's biggest moment. Bridget exploded for 108,000 points — the highest single-round score of the evening by a massive margin — to lock up the overall victory. Gertrude surged to 2nd in the round with 57,750, and The Bartender's comeback arc reached its peak with a 56,000-point round, jumping from last place in R1 to 3rd in R4.
The cruelest fate belonged to Asshole Annie: 11 correct answers (55% accuracy) but 0 points. Bad wager luck wiped out an otherwise solid round. Two questions achieved perfect 100% accuracy — Tony Soprano's wife Carmela and the "Step Brothers" duo of Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly. The toughest questions were another three-way tie at 13%: Amy as the March sister who marries Laurie in "Little Women," Cronus as the father of Zeus, and Agrippina as Caligula's sister.

| 7 | Dancing Machine | 50,023 | 50.0% | 40 |
| 8 | Asshole Annie | 40,385 | 56.3% | 45 |
A fascinating split between accuracy and placement here. FuncleBob had the best overall accuracy at 62.5% but finished 2nd. Denise answered 49 correctly (61.3%) but landed 5th. The Bartender had far and away the lowest accuracy at 31.3% but strategic Round 4 wagers pushed them to 4th. This was a night where wagering mattered more than knowledge.
