**** Nine teams battled through Flop Culture, Comedy & Sports, Who/What/Where/When Am I?, and Horror Movies at Front Street Taproom trivia. A massive 77,000-point final wager decided the champion. ****
With our new host, Brenden Skywalker at the mic for the first time at Taproom Trivia, Nine teams registered for Friday night trivia at Front Street Brewery on April 24, 2026 — and the final round produced one of the most dramatic lead changes we've seen all season. "Speculate Wildly," the reigning champion from two weeks ago, led wire-to-wire for three rounds before being overtaken in a thrilling Round 4 finish by the cross-venue regular ".....'', who dropped 154,000 points in a single round to steal the title.
Nine teams played, though participation varied significantly. Eight teams were active from Round 1, while "Bees" joined in Round 4 only. "Still Those People" and "Terry" only participated in Round 1 and sat out the rest of the night, meaning the competitive field for the final three rounds was effectively six teams deep.
The opening round took teams through a tour of history's most spectacular failures — from "John Carter" to the Zune to DashCon. Eight teams answered, and the questions ranged from universally known to deeply obscure.
Three questions achieved perfect 100% accuracy: everyone knew the Zune was Microsoft's failed iPod killer (Q3), the Segway was Dean Kamen's overhyped invention (Q9), and the XFL was the NBC/WWE football disaster (Q20).
On the other end, three questions hit just 12% accuracy — only one team each knew that "Mars Needs Moms" was Disney's 2011 animated bomb (Q13), that Harley-Davidson's cologne venture was their strangest brand extension (Q16), and that DashCon's infamous ball pit was 7 feet wide (Q19). Q7 about "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark" as Broadway's most expensive flop was answered correctly by just 25% of teams.
"Speculate Wildly" took the round lead with 11,006 points. ".....'' was in striking distance at 4,624 points, with "I know nothing" close behind at 3,950.
Hardest Question: Q13 — Which 2011 animated film about a boy transported to Mars was such a massive bomb it contributed to a studio head's firing? Answer: "Mars Needs Moms" (12% accuracy)
Easiest Questions: Q3 (Zune), Q9 (Segway), Q20 (XFL) — all at 100%
The comedy movie round brought out some deep cuts alongside the classics. With "Still Those People" and "Terry" sitting out, six teams battled through 20 questions about sports comedies.
The round produced the night's only complete shutout: Q3 asked which future star of "The Office" played "The Todd" in "Dodgeball." Not a single team knew it was David Koechner. 0% accuracy.
Two questions hit perfection: everyone knew Ricky Bobby and Cal Naughton Jr.'s catchphrase was "Shake and Bake" (Q2), and everyone identified "Talladega Nights" as the movie with the hilarious dinner prayer scene (Q6).
Q5 about Bill Murray's improvisational bowling scene in "Kingpin" stumped most teams at 17%. Q4 about Bob Barker's "The price is wrong, bitch" line from "Happy Gilmore" caught 33%, and Q20 about the actual quote from "Field of Dreams" ("If you build it, he will come" — not "they will come") tripped up half the room.
Wagers came into play on Q20: "Speculate Wildly" won +20,000 points and ".....'' won +17,000. "Speculate Wildly" extended their lead significantly, putting up 40,000 points for the round to bring their cumulative total to 51,006. ".....'' scored 34,000 to reach 38,624.
Shutout Question: Q3 — Which future star of "The Office" played "The Todd" in "Dodgeball"? Answer: David Koechner (0% accuracy)
Hardest (non-shutout): Q5 — Bill Murray's bowling feat in "Kingpin" (17%)
The night's easiest round by a wide margin, with an impressive seven perfect-accuracy questions out of twenty. The clue-based format clearly played to the room's strengths.
Every team knew Alcatraz (Q2), Savannah, GA (Q5), Rasputin (Q6), Kevlar (Q7), Harriet Tubman (Q8), Etch-A-Sketch (Q12), and Venice (Q18). The breadth of knowledge on display was remarkable.
The toughest question was Q3 — identifying 1977 as the year "Star Wars" premiered, Elvis died, and the Atari 2600 launched. Only 33% got it right. Q14 about Reykjavik as the northernmost capital stumped 60% of the room, and Q1 about Christopher Walken being the "more cowbell" actor caught only 50%.
This round featured the biggest wager action of the night. On Q15, ".....'' won +20,588 and "Speculate Wildly" won +41,076. On Q20, ".....'' won +48,411, "Speculate Wildly" won +44,548, but "I know nothing" lost -19,284. The big wagers pushed "Speculate Wildly" to a commanding 184,649 points after three rounds, with ".....'' at 135,446 — a gap of nearly 50,000 points.
Hardest Question: Q3 — I'm the year "Star Wars" premiered, Elvis died, the Atari 2600 launched... Answer: 1977 (33%)
Perfect Questions (7): Alcatraz, Savannah, Rasputin, Kevlar, Harriet Tubman, Etch-A-Sketch, Venice
The final round was the toughest of the night, and it completely rewrote the leaderboard. Horror movie deep cuts separated the casual fans from the genre devotees.
Three questions hit perfect accuracy: everyone knew bees are linked to "Candyman" (Q9), Jamie Lee Curtis played Laurie Strode (Q10), and Charles Lee Ray was Chucky's real name (Q16).
The hardest question was Q3 — identifying the Lutz family as the ones terrorized in the Amityville house (17%). Q6 about Jigsaw's real name being John Kramer also stumped the room at 17%. Q15 about the black cat named Binx in "Hocus Pocus" got just 25%, and Q19 about the demon Bathsheba in "The Conjuring" hit only 20%.
The wager story was the story of the NIGHT:
".....'' went all-in on Q10 (Jamie Lee Curtis) and won +27,000, then dropped a massive +77,000 on the final question (Q20 — "Hereditary," the character who meets a grisly fate involving a telephone pole — answer: Charlie). That 77,000-point swing alone was enough to erase "Speculate Wildly's" lead.
Meanwhile, "I know nothing" had a horror show of their own — they lost -21,750 on Q15 and -38,750 on Q20. Despite getting 75% of the questions right in R4, they scored zero points for the round. Zero. Their final total of 31,483 could have been dramatically higher with different wager outcomes.
"Speculate Wildly" dropped to 45% accuracy in R4 and only managed 81,000 points — not enough to hold off ".....''s" 154,000-point explosion.
Hardest Questions: Q3 — The Lutz family (17%), Q6 — John Kramer (17%)
The Decisive Wager: Q20 — ".....'' won +77,000, flipping the entire leaderboard and WOW what a close finish!
