It was a busy Thursday night at Together on 2nd as 11 teams showed up ready to battle through four rounds of trivia that tested everything from television spin-offs to family trees. When the dust settled, Taste the RAINBOW walked away with the crown and a jaw-dropping 464,577 points — but the road to get there was anything but smooth for the rest of the field.
The night opened with a deep dive into the world of spin-offs — TV shows that sprouted from other shows, brands that branched off parent companies, and everything in between. This was no softball opener. The room averaged just 60.4% accuracy, and several questions caught the crowd completely off guard.
The toughest question of the round asked which branch of the military the US Air Force was spun off from in 1947. Only 10% of teams (1 out of 10) correctly answered "United States Army" — most assumed it was the Navy. Another stumper asked what city Private Practice's Addison Montgomery moved to (Los Angeles), which only 30% got right, as did the question about Agents of SHIELD's Phil Coulson (30%).
On the flip side, four questions hit 90% or better: the fact that Sabrina's cat is named Salem, that Baby Yoda's real name is Grogu, that Frasier's Eddie is a Jack Russell Terrier, and that Old Navy spun off from Gap.
Taste the RAINBOW opened strong with 90% accuracy and 19,692 points to take the early lead. Team "...", the previous week's winners, sat in 2nd at 15,458, while Red hot trivia peppers claimed 3rd. Duke had a catastrophic wager, scoring 0 despite getting 8 of 20 correct.
The second round was the crowd favorite of the night, with room accuracy surging to 76.9% as teams dove into the nostalgia of the early 2000s. Three questions achieved a perfect 100% correct rate: "High School Musical" launched Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens, Aaliyah died in a 2001 plane crash, and the Motorola Razr was the iconic flip phone of the era.
The hardest question asked who Paris Hilton's partner was in her infamous 2003 sex tape — only 50% knew it was Rick Salomon. "The Wire" also tripped people up at 55%.
Taste the RAINBOW was absolutely flawless, going 20-for-20 for a PERFECT 100% accuracy and 54,000 points to run away with the round. Red hot trivia peppers and Noice! tied for 2nd with 52,000 each (both at 95%). But the big story was Crotch Goblins, who answered 14 of 20 correctly (70% accuracy) but scored ZERO points after a devastating wager loss. Duke bounced back nicely with 38,000 points (75%).
After two rounds, Taste the RAINBOW led at 73,692, with Red hot trivia peppers in 2nd (64,040) and Noice! in 3rd (59,152).
The grab bag round shook up the standings dramatically. This eclectic mix of science, history, literature, geography, and pop culture brought the room accuracy back down to 61.0% and featured the night's only complete shutout.
That shutout belonged to the question about which animal has the largest brain-to-body size ratio — not a single team out of 11 guessed the Tree Shrew (0%). The fictional continent from The Witcher ("The Continent") also stumped nearly everyone at just 18%, as did the Skeleton winter sport (27%) and the Troposphere wager question (29%).
The brightest spots were Surrealism (91%), "Which is NOT a Great Lake — Lake Champlain" (91%), the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand starting WWI (91%), and Supernova (91%).
This is where the wagers completely reshuffled the board. Team "..." parlayed strong accuracy into a round-winning 77,516 points, and Noice! rode their wager to 66,088. But Taste the RAINBOW's lead evaporated — they scored only 24,885 and dropped from 1st to 3rd overall. Red hot trivia peppers cratered with just 2,052 points in the round.
After three rounds: Noice! had surged to 1st (125,240), "..." was 2nd (105,974), and Taste the RAINBOW had dropped to 3rd (98,577).
The final round explored family relationships across movies, TV, history, music, and mythology — and the wagers made it an absolute barnburner. Room accuracy sat at 64.3%, but the real action was in the point swings.
The round's toughest question asked which March sister marries Laurie in "Little Women" — only 18% correctly answered Amy (most guessed Jo). The Succession family name (Roy) also stumped teams at just 18%, and only 27% knew that Michael was Don Vito Corleone's youngest son. On the easy end, every single team correctly identified "Step Brothers" as starring Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly (100%).
Taste the RAINBOW came into R4 trailing by over 26,000 points but absolutely detonated with 366,000 points in the round — the highest single-round score of the night by a massive margin. That vault catapulted them from 3rd all the way back to 1st. Noice! put up a strong 296,000 to hold 2nd, while Red hot trivia peppers surged from 4th to 3rd with 222,000 points on 85% accuracy. Team "..." scored 142,000 for a solid 4th-place finish.
At the bottom, Music Inside Of Me scored a heartbreaking 5 points in the round, and Duke posted another zero.
